Development of a nonwoven textile reinforcement made from 100% recycled aramid fibres
CETI experts have developed a nonwoven textile reinforcement made from 100% recycled aramid fibres for the workwear sector, in partnership with FERLAM TECHNOLOGIES (Achille Bayart).
Given the high cost of virgin aramid, it is essential to consider the end-of-life of this material and to valorise it in new markets and alternative applications. Its high tensile strength and flame-retardant properties make it a widely used material in a broad range of equipment, from fire-protective clothing (firefighter suits and flame-resistant gloves) to vehicle armour, military helmets and cut-resistant gloves. More recently, this raw material has also been used in the manufacture of products such as fishing and golf rods, bows, skis, and more.
