Thermomechanical

Recycling Platform

CETI’s Thermomechanical Recycling platform provides industrial players with pilot and pre-industrial capabilities to develop, validate and scale up solutions for the thermomechanical recycling of textile waste.

Thermo-mechanical recycling platform EREMA at CETI
The platform enables the transformation of post-industrial and post-consumer textile waste into recycled polymer materials, contributing to the development of high-performance recycled solutions for textile and plastic applications.

Designed for applied R&D, industrial validation and circular economy projects, this platform supports the valorisation of diverse textile waste streams across multiple industrial sectors.

Applications & industrial use cases

The Thermomechanical Recycling platform supports a wide range of industrial development and validation activities.

Thermomechanical recycling of textile waste into recycled polymer pellets

Development of recycled polymer grades suitable for textile and nonwoven applications

Valorisation of complex textile waste streams containing synthetic materials

Development of open-loop and closed-loop recycling solutions

Evaluation of recycled polymer processability for filament, fiber or nonwoven production

Production of representative recycled materials for prototyping and pre-industrial validation

How CETI uses this platform

CETI uses this platform to carry out technical development and validation work on thermomechanical textile recycling processes.

It enables feasibility studies, process optimisation and qualification of recycled polymers under industrially relevant conditions.

The platform supports both material-oriented and process-oriented recycling developments.

Activities are conducted by expert teams combining know-how in polymers, recycling processes and textile engineering.

The platform supports integrated technical services within CETI’s service offerings.

Looking to develop, validate or scale up a textile solution? CETI teams are available to discuss your project and identify the most relevant technical approach.

Thermomechanical recycling capabilities

The Thermomechanical Recycling platform combines equipment and expertise at CETI and its subsidiary CETIA to support the transformation and valorisation of textile waste into recycled polymers.

It integrates a pilot-scale EREMA line for producing recycled pellets from post-industrial and post-consumer textile waste, as well as complementary waste preparation capabilities available at CETIA.

Through integration with CETI’s Compounding / Spinning / Fibers platform, recycled polymers can be compounded, processed and evaluated for their suitability in filament, fiber or nonwoven applications.

These capabilities enable the development and validation of recycling processes, material formulations and industrially viable recycled solutions across multiple textile application sectors.
