CETI’s Drylaid Nonwovens platform provides industrial players with pilot and pre-industrial capabilities to develop, optimise and validate Drylaid nonwoven materials.

The platform enables the formation of fibrous webs using Carding and Airlay processes, offering high flexibility for the development of customised, application-driven and high-performance nonwoven solutions.

Designed for applied R&D and pre-industrial validation, this platform supports the development of Drylaid nonwovens under conditions representative of industrial constraints, including the valorisation of textile waste streams and recycled fibers.

CETI uses this platform to carry out technical developments and validation work on Drylaid nonwoven materials.

It enables feasibility studies, process optimisation and material qualification under industrially relevant conditions.

The platform is used to produce Drylaid webs and consolidated nonwovens for testing, prototyping and pre-industrial validation.

Activities are conducted by expert teams with strong know-how in fibers, web formation and nonwovens engineering.

Web formation, consolidation & finishing capabilities


The Drylaid Nonwovens platform integrates two complementary web formation processes, combined with a wide range of consolidation routes.

Web formation processes:

  • Carding – working width: 1.2 m

  • Airlay – working width: 1.0 m

Consolidation processes after Carding:

  • Thermal bonding (oven)

  • Calendering

  • Needle punching

  • Combined needle-punched and oven-bonded webs

  • Hydroentanglement (spunlace)

Consolidation processes after Airlay:

  • Needle punching

  • Thermal bonding (oven)

This diversity of processes enables the development of Drylaid nonwovens with tailored structures, performances and end-use properties.
